Listen, I get it. A newsletter platform is just one more thing you have to do on top of the pressure to do social media, keep up with your psychology today profile, and all of the other marketing advice that you get on a day to day basis from the internet.

Are any therapists actually sending newsletters these days?

YES, they are. I have worked with dozens of therapists and therapy practices, and they absolutely do. You might think, “I don’t need an email: I just want a small caseload and once it’s filled, I’m good to go.” But you never know how your practice or business will change in the future. Perhaps you want to start offering groups, or trainings, or retreats. Maybe you want to open up supervision to other therapists. What do I even talk about as a therapist / therapy practice in my newsletter?

  1. Practice updates: new team members, practice happenings, news mentions. Maybe you got a table to promote at a local festival or you’re hosting a mental health event.

  2. New openings for caseloads: do you need 1-2 more people? Looking for a better fit for your caseload? Have a new intern that needs to fill their caseload? Shoot out an email with openings!

  3. Your own writing + tips: your newsletter is also a space for you to connect with your audience via the teachings, philosophy, and ethos that you encompass as a therapist. Maybe you want to give holiday tips for navigating stressful family situations or tips about dating in the spring.

  4. Introduce new programs and offerings: if you nurture an audience even if your caseload is full, you might have new programs someday like groups, or a retreat, or an intensive. Therapists do so much, and your practice will grow with you, with FloDesk there to help every step of the way.

  • Upload custom fonts for special sections (I don’t recommend custom fonts everywhere, but for headers, they’re really nice)
